Making

I have made small-scale artworks since childhood. Making things - especially small or tiny things, gives me Gulliver-sized pleasure.

Though I work mostly in paper/papier-mache and cardboard, I also love creating ‘junk’ jewellery from found objects, sewing upcycled dolls and painting on all manner of surfaces. Recycling items for my art making is an important aspect of my practice - I prefer never to buy materials.

Over the years I have had crushes on making series of items such as ‘paper shoes’, ‘cicadas’ and ‘leaf books’. The materials themselves lead me down their own creative path.
